Review: Walmart First Taste, Spring 2017 & HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!

JFG Nation, sorry for the extended vacay. Life comes at you fast sometimes – but I’m back with a box Walmart sent me! And just in time for Memorial Day…

Today’s review: Walmart First Taste, Spring 2017!!

Walmart sent me this box as part of their “First Taste” program, featuring new seasonal items – some on the shelves, and some not yet.

The Spring 2017 box is all about grilling! I do love grilled meat. Normally I eat one sandwich and that’s enough to fill me up. But a BBQ brings something else out in me. I went to my friend Anthony’s BBQ two nights ago and had two burgers and two chicken sandwiches in one sitting. HOW?

These products are only available at Walmart – let’s see what lies within…

BAM! What a random smorgasbord of items.

Walmart has been mimicking name brand items for some time now, and this Fully Loaded Popcorn takes on Smart Food. The bag design is all over the place, but I can’t say no to White Cheddar Popcorn ever. My method of eating popcorn includes shoving as many kernels into my mouth as it will hold and then crunching down like a trash compactor.

Walmart getting into the Simple Syrup game??? I can get down with this. If you don’t know what simple syrup is – you use it to sweeten cocktails. This particular simple syrup featuring Atlanta mixologist Sadiyyah Iddeen is flavored with a bit of vanilla extract. Open mouth, pour tequila and this syrup in. Swallow, finish by biting on a lime. Repeat.

BBQ SAWSE. This tomato based sauce will be used in my next slow cooker adventure.

Baked beans are one of those things, I never buy (sorry, Bush’s), but when they’re at a BBQ I end up slathering their brown sugar goodness all over everything. Baked beans are the reason I always have to get a new plate for each round of gluttony at a BBQ. Why does my plate look like a crime scene? Baked beans.

This…this is interesting. I thought this was Honey Mustard at first, but looking at the description and ingredients, I think this is more like Chik Fil A sauce – honey mustard with a bit of BBQ smoke and tang. Well done, Walmart – trying to conquer ALL arenas. Someone get me a 20-piece McNuggets, STAT.

AH HA! I’ve been wanting one of these. All I need now is a brand new Weber Grill. I’ll be looking for that in the next First Taste box, Walmart.

And finally, a T-shirt for Rockdale Brewing Company. Rockdale Beer is apparently a beer you can buy in Walmart stores – I say apparently, because none of the Walmart’s near me sell, or allowed to sell, beer. DAMN LAWS. Does your Walmart sell beer? Let me know in the comments below.

And that’s it, JFG Nation! Thanks to Walmart for the fun box, and let me know what you think about any of the products in the comments below. We’ll be back to our regularly scheduled blog posts tomorrow. Happy Memorial Day, JFG Nation!

Sincerely,

The JFG

I’m in California, you can buy alcohol just about anywhere out here. Trader Joe’s, Walmart, Target, hell even at gas stations. It always blows my mind when I visit states with state run liquor stores. Seems like such a pain.

They have four varieties of the baked beans. We already tried them all and liked them

I want a bottled Cains sauce for dipping.

How do you get the box? Is it because of your super-cool blogger status or can you sign up for it?

Rockdale Light is one of the beers which Walmart contracts out to be brewed. It is priced BELOW value brands like Keystone, Busch, Natty Light and PBR.

It’s pretty watered down with little character.

Skype has opened its web-structured client beta on the entire world, following
launching it broadly from the United states and U.K. before this
calendar month. Skype for Internet also now works with Chromebook
and Linux for instant text messaging connection (no voice and video however, all those
    need a plug-in installment).

The increase of the beta adds support for a longer selection of different languages to
    help reinforce that worldwide usability
