Lots to do today, JFG Nation, so I won’t dilly dally. These New Quaker Chewy Girl Scout Caramel Coconut Granola Bars are GOOD. I had kind of a kind of poo poo review of the Thin Mint version of these granola bars last week, primarily because there wasn’t anything about the granola bar itself that was specifically Thin Mint-y. It was just a granola bar that had some mint chocolate on top. Sure, it tasted good, but if the Thin Mint label wasn’t there, I wouldn’t have cared.

Enter these New Quaker Chewy Girl Scout Caramel Coconut Granola Bars, or I’m just going to call them Samoas granola bars. In this case, if I had eaten this WITHOUT the Girl Scout Samoas label, I would have IMMEDIATELY thought, “Whoa, these taste JUST LIKE Samoas.” The reason is simple – first, the texture match was near perfect. Samoas already are sort of gritty in terms of the chew – the coconut and cookie provide a jumbled texture that is familiar. Granola bars match that same feeling. Add on top of that the SPOT ON flavor of chocolate-coconut-caramel, and these were a near-spot-on match. If anything, while I loved Samoas, I liked the easier chew on these bars. Samoas can sometimes be a little stick-to-your-teeth-ish. These did not.

All in all, I REALLY enjoyed these bars. This was an instance where the Girl Scout branding clicked – good execution, Quaker. I endorse these if you’re a Samoas fan.

Why it is natural and artificially flavored? Is caramel, chocolate, and coconut natural already?
