New Pepperidge Farm Brown Butter Rum Cookies: The Money Shot
You know, with all the hoopla surrounding the PF Dessert Shop cookies, chili-spiced Milano cookies, etc…. it’s rare that you see just a new simple addition to their basic cookie line. But then, here we are with these New Pepperidge Farm Brown Butter Rum Cookies. When I opened the bag and sniffed, I IMMEDIATELY smelled a strong butter cookie smell. More sniffs, and I was able to discern a slight butterscotch aroma as well. Pulling these cookies out, they looked simple, light, and inviting. Similar to a lot of PF’s other cookies, these were the crumbly sort – lots of buttery crumbs fell of as I bit into this cookie. And my first thought: “Um, ok these are delicious.” AND THEY WERE. It’s a pretty simple flavor profile – the cookies were rich and buttery and sweet until I realized that these basically gave off a butterscotch flavor, like the aroma. Then, as I chewed more, the distinct flavor of rum (think rum cake or other rum desserts) came out to finish off the overall cookie. The combo was super tasty. If I wasn’t trying to be good, I could’ve demolished SEVERAL of these in just two minutes. Great execution, great flavor, and easy texture. Thumbs up, Pepperidge Farm. Really.

I got these per your suggestion. They are pretty good, but they don’t beat my favorite- Chessmen. I’d reccomend them to anyone who ever asks what Pepperidge Farm cookies I like (not that’ll ever happen)

Heck yes! I’ll be keeping my eye out because I freaking love salted caramel so we’ll have to see if you like them.
I just purchased these and omg! I have been having a craving for something with rum in it for a while, they remind me of cookies that I had as a kid that I haven’t been able to find in years. Thank goodness for Pepperidge Farms for making these cookies! The rum isn’t too much and you can taste the butter in them. I plan on getting two more packs when I go to work tomorrow!
I may or may not have demolished an entire bag of these in one day. They are so good, esp with a hot drink.
