Review: Oreo Snack Hacks (Michael Voltaggio Style…Sort of) [VIDEO] (& Quick Round 1 NBA Predictions)

Junk Food Nation, here we go again.  Last week, Oreo sent me a Snack Hack box – I Instagrammed it here – and it’s basically a recipe box.  Here’s the thing – I’m actually a decent cook, but a baker I AM NOT. But whatever, I figure we could ALL enjoy watching me fumble through this recipe.  So, without further ado:

I hope you enjoyed that, Junk Food Nation!  It was “fun” for me too.  Thanks again to OREO for giving me the chance to try this.  Here are some photos cataloging my attempt:

I bet if you had kept the kit mint-in-box it’d be worth a lot on e-bay in a few years!

So JFG, are you going to grow a playoff beard? Oh that’s right, you’re an asian dude, they can’t grow beards. *snicker* 🙂

  2. Justin Cornwell says:

I hope your bold East prediction goes as well as your bold preseason prediction that the Cavs would be the 4 seed. Go Bulls!

    • junkfoodguy says:

@Justin: Lol, oh right! Hey, I’m man enough to say I was COMPLETELY wrong. Or that I’m an idiot 😉 And that you were right!

And here I am again, predicting the Bulls will lose to the Wiz! Well, at least this time it’s all about home cookin’, as far as rationale. Trust me – I’ve learned that the Bulls are a scary team.

      GO WIZ!

    • Justin Cornwell says:

Let’s hope it’s just as entertaining as the 2005 Bulls-Wizards series. Back when Larry Hughes, Gilbert Arenas, and Andres Nocioni were relevant names in basketball. My how the time flies.

    • junkfoodguy says:

      @Justin: Nocioni. Good lord….

  3. A-aron says:

    My predictions

    Raps in 6, maybe 5
    Heat in 6
    Pacers in 6
    Bulls in 7

    Spurs in 5
    Thunder in 6
    Clippers in 6, maybe 7
    Rockets in 7

Sucks that I think the only East team that is definitely a top 10 team in the NBA are the Heat, and even they I wouldn’t say have played like a top 5 team. (I actually think the Raps are the 2nd best East team, whom I believe the Suns are just as good as.) Clippers/Warriors and Spurs/Mavs are the two best overall talented matchups, but the Clippers/Warriors are a lot closer so that should be the most entertaining matchup in the first round.

    • junkfoodguy says:

@A-A-ron: I like that you’re feeling my mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe Golden State pick. I think the Clips and Warriors are very close, as you say.

Raps are super talented – Brooklyn might be overhyped; they did have the easiest post-All Star break schedule. We shall see! I’m stoked either way

  4. Paul says:

Great video man, made me laugh. Those did look more like flat brownies. Did you dip them in salsa?

    • junkfoodguy says:

@Paul: Apparently the recipe recommended dipping them in fruit salsa? I did not….flat brownies, with powdered sugar, into my mouth

  5. OK, that was freakin’ hilarious. Your food processor is very entertaining 🙂 You’re right…you’re not a baker 😀

  6. MP says:

I like how you didn’t use most of the equipment provided 😛
I’m still scratching my head over this one – why is this even a thing? It seems very odd to put on parchment paper to roll & have half of the dough come up with it. Sounds like it was too wet. Flour dusted rolling pin would have worked better. Thinner is best & probably should have let them cool to crisp up. Oh well 😛

    • junkfoodguy says:

@MP: I dunno why this is a thing. Oreo getting desperate for attention?

The stickiness, I think, came from the fact that I used WAAAY to much water (even just 1/8 cup off apparently makes a big difference)….lol

  7. Steve Shrader says:

Nice idea, but the Warriors will not win. Curry is the only guy on the team who can create his own shot. And they have no bench. That is all.

  8. Sarah says:

I get the feeling that this would not be worth the effort/cleanup…
