As Seen in Ireland, Pt. 10 & My Week 12 NFL Picks

Junk Food Nation, I went 13-1 last week.  13-1!!!!!!  WOOOOO.

Of course, as reader Nathaniel pointed out – I mainly just picked favorites, and all the favorites won. Granted, three nailbiter overtime games had to turn out the way I wanted, but still – those teams won.  That puts me 98-61-1 for the season.  BOOM.

Week 12 started with my Thanksgiving picks, where I went 3-for-3. It really was a day of great football, even if the rules totally screwed over Detroit.

Let’s get to the rest of the schedule:

BUFFALO over INDY: NEVER. BET. AGAINST. BUFFALO.

CHICAGO over MINN: I think Jay Cutler will be back. I think Jay Cutler will be effective.

CINCY over OAKLAND: Last week, Cincy stomped KC, and Oakland is just as bad.

CLEVELAND over PITT: BELIEVE-LAND!  Upset special…with Cahrlie Batch starting on the road and virtually no run game, I give the BROWNS the win here.

DENVER over KC: Peyton Manning for MVP.

SEATTLE over MIAMI: I give Russell Wilson a lot of props, being (in my world) the 4th best known QB rookie drafted, and playing like he’s been around for a while.

TB over ATLANTA: Upset Special #2!  I dunno, Atlanta look vulnerable last week, and I think TB is on a hot streak playing with no fear…I could see TB taking this one.

JAX over TENN: I could see Chad Henne blowing this thing wide open with 70 pass attempts. Why not?

BALTIMORE over SD: Norv Turner is dead man walking.

ARZ over STL: Honestly, both of these teams have bright spots, but I like the aggressive Arizona defense more.

NINERS over NEW ORLEANS: I know that the Saints are at home, and that’s always a tough place to play, but did you see Colin K. play last week? The weak N.O. defense isn’t going to slow him down.

GB over GIANTS: Only because this way, my Skins prediction may come true.

CAROLINA over PHILLY: I think this is the game Cam Newton remembers he’s NOT. THAT. BAD. Or at least, not as bad as the entire Philly team is.

Today’s “As Seen in Ireland” post was done mainly to annoy my friend Shorneys, but also because some of things here I’m wondering if Shorneys has eaten (since he lived in the UK for a couple years).  Anyways, let’s get to it:

Um….what?

I’m sure these white sauces and bread sauces are tasty….but don’t they look EXACTLY the same? I am unconvinced these are different at all. One’s good on ham, fish, pork, the other is good on turkey, chicken, fish.  THE MEAT THEY ARE BEING POURED ON IS IDENTICAL.  Knorr’s, you crazy gurl.

AHHH Indeed

AHHHH, FOR CHICKEN!  Gravy granules is an interesting concept.  Mix with water to MAKE gravy, or sprinkle granules over meat to SIMULATE gravy?

Aioli?

Garlic aioli isn’t anything new, really, and I’ve had it with french fries at many a hoidy toidy bistro… but usually people make the aioli from scratch.  I’m not sure I’ve EVER seen ACTUAL garlic mayo sold in a jar.  Gives me the shivers.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwh snap

These snacks were actually pretty good, I just found it funny that on the packaging, they actually have a snapping…alligator? Wearing a high school letter jacket?  Is this what counts as “hip” in Ireland? Did I just drop the word, “hip”?  I am officially old.

MAXXXXXX

Good to see that even UK based chips have hopped on the MAXXXXXX and EXXXTREME bandwagons.  I think when you open this mini bag up, there’s just one HUGE potato chip.

7x the beef!

The bag claimed 30% less packaging, same number of Hula Hoops.  Well, good – I’m glad someone caught on that buying a bag full of air was annoying.  I know the air is designed to help cushion the chips during transport….whatever.  And seven times the BBQ Beef flavor??? Sign me up!

UK loves their BBQ Beef

These Super Noodles, I have to imagine, are sort of like ramen…maybe.  But BBQ Beef flavor?  I don’t get it…especially since the noodles on the packaging look more herbed than anything else.

LOVE IT

A former colleague of mine was Guyanese, so I’ve had oxtail in the past and it was damn good.  But it basically tasted like beef…BECAUSE IT IS BEEF.  So…is this just beef stock powder? If so, why not label it as such?  It’s not like the bouillon that comes from the tail is any different than that that comes from the shank…is it?

I have been thinking Norv Turner has been a dead man walking for 3 years now. I don’t know what the owner sees in him or the GM. I hope u are right about the Browns beating the Steelers. I would love it!

I think your saying should be “always bet against the bills”.

Thank god i live in boston and am a patriots fan. Loving how their season is turning out. Defense is finally stepping up and Brady is just completely tearing teams apart. I dont see many teams contesting them in the playoffs except for houston. Im seeing another superbowl run. My prediction…Patriots vs Packers in the superbowl
