As Seen in Ireland, Pt. 9 & My Week 11 NFL Picks

Junk Food Nation, I went 7-6-1 in my NFL picks last week.  What’s the -1? Well, the Niners and Rams tied, of course. Can we get a decent field goal kicker in here please? Because ties in professional football are ridiculous.  85-60-1 on the season….Onto the Week 11 picks, the last week of BYEs in the NFL:

BUFFALO over Miami, because never bet against Buffalo – and thank you to Tannenhill for those two interceptions.

ATLANTA over Arizona, as the Falcons get back on track after that Week 10 loss to the Saints.

DALLAS over Cleveland, because Brandon Weeden is not THAT much of a threat.

GB over Detroit…Stafford’s been better, but Rodgers coming off a BYE is dangerous.

CINCY over KC, because KC hasn’t stopped being awful anytime recently.

SKINS over Philly, because Nick Foles this is Nick Foles first professional start, and if the Skins cant beat HIM? ….they are toast.

TB over Carolina, because they have been clicking recently, and Carolina hasn’t.

HOUSTON over Jax, because…you know why.

STL over NYJets, because the JETS ARE JERKS AND A COMPLETE MESS AND I COULDN’T BE HAPPIER.  JERKS.

NEW ORLEANS over Oakland, though I wonder if it’s too little too late with Brees?  To make the playoffs, the Saints need to win pretty much every game left…can they do it?

DENVER over San Diego…AFC West Dominance.

BALTIMORE over Pittsburgh because Byron Leftwich is not a current starting QB for a reason.

And two JUICY matchups:

INDY v NEW ENGLAND: Ok, I’m not going to get cute and think that just because Andrew Luck has been lighting the league up he can beat Tom Brady and the PATRIOTS…but I’d love to see it happen 😛

CHICAGO v SAN FRAN: I think SAN FRAN wins this great matchup, only because Jay Cutler is out.  Still, I think the Bears have better weapons on offense.

Feeling sort of worldly today, so let’s take a look back at some more Ireland goodies:

Bieber twins?

Apparently, Jedward is an identical twin Irish pop duo that were contestants in UK’s X-Factor. I guess they’re popular (maybe some of my UK friends can help me with that assessment), but to me, they look enormously creepy.  That they have their own chocolate bars is mind boggling to me. When are we getting the Bieber ice cream bar? Hopefully never.

Incidentally, you guys know I watch the US X-Factor if you’ve read some of my past blog posts.  I’m trying to watch this year, but it’s watching these fools. Why is no one talented except for that Carly girl? I swear Astro and Josh Krajik would obliterate these scrubs. #EndRant

Favorite what? Street? The quality one, I guess

Quality Street is an assortment of wrapped chocolates and candies. My favorite one is whatever lets off those pink sparks in the background.

Are the candies working out?

Heroes is Cadbury’s answer to Quality Street. The candies are depicted lifting weights, cycling, and other sports activities.  And I think its hilarious that it appears the one in the upper right hand corner is doing rhythm gymnastics.  The one in the bottom right – not sure what he’s doing except vibrating back and forth.  Lewd.

Lightsaber cereal!

“LUKE, I AM….PART OF YOUR COMPLETE AND BALANCED BREAKFAST.”

Typically 92 calories? How is there no precision here?

The idea of cream pies shaped like ice cream cones is one I love.  You can pretend you’re eating an ice cream cone even though it’s half the size and tastes nothing like ice cream at all!  Score!  I HAD to open this box…

Creamy pies!

HHHYEAH CREAMY PIES! These don’t look suspicious or anything.

VIRGINIA!

“MARYLAND”!? What the…is the state of Maryland now making Irish snack food? I wish.  But the fact that they named it after the Old Line State is brilliant.  Good choice of state to use.  No one would eat a snack called NEBRASKA.

Maryland DOES have tasty recipes

In fact, I think its CERTAIN that some states have tastier names than others.  My top states that, if used as a name for snack food, I’d love to consume:

1. HAWAII: sounds exotic and tasty

2. NEW MEXICO: is it tastier than Old Mexico? I WANNA FIND OUT!

3. MAINE: short, simple, and easy to chew.

4. MINNESOTA: Has the word “soda” in the name. I’m in.

5. MARYLAND: Sounds a land of merry, where delicious snacks come from!

And the worst:

1. New Jersey: Even if its new, it sounds like you’re eating clothes.

2. Massachusetts: Such a long name loses taste appeal instantly.

3. Oregon: Am I eating a rare gas here? Sounds like it/ Freon, Oregon…same thing…

4. Rhode Island: An island full of roads? There’s no way they make good food.

5. Kansas: Cans ass….nope.

    MELANIE AMAROOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

And I think I’d eat a snack called “Nevada” cuz it means snowy in Spanish. I’m thinking a type of shaved ice concoction. Mmmmmm

  2. Clare says:

Jedward aren’t creepy at all! They are gentle, harmless guys but very eccentric. Check out their youtube channel JEDWARDTV.

Their latest video “Jedward Toast” is very typical http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ox_PJE4cVE&feature=g-all-u

Sounds like someone is hating. Go pats!

  4. Shorneys says:

Boy, you’re really milking this Ireland thing. Your trip was like, half a year ago, dude. 😛

  5. Lindemann says:

That is an excellent summary of which states sound tastiest. I think I’d toss “Mississippi” in there as an honorable mention for tastiness…all the hissing sounds good. “Spicy Mississippi Chips” works if you don’t know anything about the state.

  6. I can’t believe you still have Ireland pictures to share! That’s awesome. Your comments on the taste of the state names makes me think of that part in the Phantom Tollbooth when he’s at the market eating the letters. And the A is juicy and sweet and the Z tastes like sawdust…

I think Missouri is cream filled with frosting on top…

  7. Nathaniel says:

patriots win big, doing well on your picks this week except for the jets which i predicted they would loose too. easy week of nfl picks though

    Brilliant!

Also, I would be worried that anything called “Maryland” would just have some Old Bay tossed into it. Which, come to think of it, might not be terrible in a double chocolate chip cookie…
