Smartfood Selects Honey Cinnamon Pecan Granola Coated Popcorn, Blueberry Almond Vanilla Granola Coated Popcorn

Smartfood Selects Honey Cinnamon Pecan Granola Coated Popcorn and Blueberry Almond Vanilla Granola Coated Popcorn were spotted and purchased at my local Walgreens.  There was a big display, and I did one of those walk past, walk back, pick up a couple bags, read, put them down, walk away, walk back, pick two bags back up, linger, put them back, walk away, finish shopping, walk back and grab two bags and head straight for cash register.

So, first up: Smartfood Selects Honey Cinnamon Pecan Granola Coated Popcorn!

Smartfood Selects Honey Cinnamon Pecan Granola Coated Popcorn tasted just like Crackerjack, but with even more kick!  Essentially, the caramelized corn has an lot more cinnamon and butter pecan flavor added. Like Crackerjack, this has a light candy shell, but its a little easier to crunch and as I chewed the cinnamon flavor really came through…it was a nice kick.  Then, as I swallowed and let the flavor settle, the butter pecan flavor lingered and finished off the bite nicely.  My co-worker tried these and agreed, “Its better than Crackerjack.” Solid all around, and very tasty.  No actual pecans in the bag.  Just pecan flavor. For 130 calories for a decent size snack bag, these were well worth the cost and calories. I was very satisfied.

Smartfood Selects Blueberry Almond Vanilla Granola Coated Popcorn tasted like I was eating a blueberry muffin or blueberry pancakes, I swear.  I liked these a lot.  The popcorn was coated with granola and sugar, which made for a nice sweet crunch reminiscent of Crackerjack.  But then the immediate flavor of Blueberry Muffins/Pancakes came out – it was sweet and had moments of tart blueberry flavor that really mixed well with the sweetness of the popcorn.  I did sense the nuttiness of almond once in a while, but mostly I got the blueberry flavor.  No actual almonds in the bag.

Did it taste artificial? A tiny bit, but no more than how an Entemann’s blueberry muffin tastes – it’s not a “just-baked” flavor but it’s still tasty. Overall, the popcorn was NOT too sugary, which was nice – it was just a nice, sweet, crunchy Blueberry Muffin/Pancake-tasting popcorn.  Really good.

I have to be honest, I was skeptical about how both of these would taste, but I actually really enjoyed both. If you’re looking for a sweet crunchy snack, give these a try – they’re actually pretty damn good.

PURCHASED AT: Walgreens

COST: $1 each

Those look really good. I’m going to have to find them. Nice review! Fox and espn are buming about this weekends series, since the red sox are so far out of it. I still cant believe that Baltimore and Tampa are leading both wild cards.

Blueberry is such a hard flavor to replicate in processed foods but you have me very intrigued. Nice review once again.
