Review: Japanese Sake Kit Kat, JFG March Madness, & Burger or Fries: Which Is The Last Bite?

JFG Nation, March Madness has begun! Sort of. The “First Four” kicked off last night with the first two play-in games. I watched Wake Forest crumble after a Flagrant 1 where a Wake player tried to grab a K State player’s foot while lying flat on his back on the ground. OH THE DRAMA. FYI: two days ago I gave the instructions for joining the 2017 JFG March Madness Pool! To enter, click here. The pool ID# is 95312. All the JFG Rules were spelled out yesterday. JOIN UP!

Now, a question: who out there loves cheeseburgers and fries? We all do, right? But when you’re eating a burger and fries, what do you want your LAST BITE to be? I was out with the JFGal eating a burger and fries and this became a debate. She insisted, “Always end on a fry bite because it’s salty starchy and good.” I always end on a delicious burger bite, finishing my fries before that last bite, because I want a meaty afterflavor to linger. The JFGal was incredulous.

What say you, JFG Nation? Your last bite: burger or fries? Tell me in the comments below.

Today’s junk food: Japanese Sake Kit Kat!!

There are many flavors of Kit Kats out there, and an amazing variety of them come from Japan. Being an avid reader of food blogs like I know many of you are, I’ve seen my share of crazy flavors. But Sake flavored??! When Doctor Sis brought these back from Japan, I HAD TO TRY THEM.

Sake is, by the way, a rice based alcohol very popular in Japan. It’s basically clear and has a floral sweet flavor. I love it. Waaaaay to easy to take shots of.

DO THESE TASTE GOOD? Wow. YES.

WHY OR WHY NOT? When I opened the tall box, I could immediately smell the aroma of sake, which is sort of sweet. The bars themselves weren’t chocolate; they were a white confection. Biting into one, the sake flavor was unmistakeable – sweet, pairing perfectly with the creamy sweetness of the white coating. It was uncanny, like eating a sake-soaked dessert cake. Just…just awesome. I was blown away.

ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW? Sorry if my descriptions aren’t great – I guess you have to start from the place of knowing what sake tastes like before anything else. But if you do, THESE WERE THE BOMB DOT COM.

PURCHASED AT: Japan!

WHERE FOUND IN STORE? Big display at the airport.

COST? I’m gonna guess like $3-$4.

Sincerely,

The JFG

Gotta go with JFGal…always end on a fry bite. I also love to dip my fries in my shake or frosty so it’s kind of like dessert.

Fries!!! Last bite is the fries.

Why we cannot have those funky flavors of Kit Kat here in the US?! We have our standard milk/dark coating. Red velvet flavor. But need to expand more cool flavors

I usually don’t start with fries because they more often need a bit of time to cool compared to the burger. Since I eat one thing at a time, if I start with the burger, then of course my last bite (as well as the second-to-last, third-to-last, etc) will be the fries.

I always end on a burger bite. When I was little I actually used to eat all of my fries before I even took a bite of burger, but now I’ll usually eat half the fries/half the burger/other half of the fries/other half of the burger (taking a swig of soda after each stage). I just see fries as more of the appetizer and the burger as the entree, so of course I’m going to finish on the more substantial food item.

I know it’s weird, but burgers aren’t my favorite food. I’m neutral about them. I love fries, though, so it’s definitely end ob a fry bite to me. Heck, I wish I could get fries ad a main with something else on the side.

Sake Kit Kats sound so good! I wish the USA could get these flavors.

  6. Another burger hater here. But gimme my fries. And I will usually finish with the fries because there’s more of them.

I always eat separately, burger first and then fries.

And who doesn’t like burgers? Very strange…
