Review: Jamaican Jerk Pringles (Walgreens Exclusive Flavor) & iPhone Freakouts

JFG Nation, while everyone last night was freaking out about the Oscars, leading to my favorite tweet of the night:

…I had a mini freakout because my relatively new iPhone 7 decided to freak out. Touch screen wasn’t working, and I could get anything to open. Worse yet, my traditional “force power reboot” method of holding down the home and power keys wasn’t working! (Incidentally, I now have learned that a force reboot on the iPhone 7 is done through holding down the Volume Down key and the power button.)

Anywho, once my phone started to respond, I noticed that all of my Pringles pictures for today’s review were GONE – front shots, ingredient lists, calorie info – zippy. Sigh. This happened with my old iPhones once in a while, and then months later, when my phone would freakout again, suddenly those pictures would magically appear again. So we’ll have to make due with the one photo I have of these Jamaican Jerk Pringles which I downloaded last week! We’ll resume (hopefully) more NORMAL reviews tomorrow.

Have you had a bad iPhone freakout where you lost something important? Let me know in the comments below.

Today’s junk food: Jamaican Jerk Pringles (Walgreens Exclusive Flavor)!!

Jamaican Jerk Pringles aren’t the only Walgreens Exclusive Flavor out right now; Walgreens has also released Cheddar BBQ. I went with the Jamaican Jerk Pringles because they seemed more interesting. Plus, I enjoy jerk seasoning, which for the uninformed is basically a spicy mixture of Scotch Bonnet peppers and all spice, plus other things like garlic and clove and nutmeg. It’s good – you should have it on chicken sometime. You’ll burn your mouth out and cry for more.

DOES THIS TASTE GOOD? YES.

WHY OR WHY NOT? The immediate flavor of jerk spice is powerful – and spot on. Besides the spicy spicy heat (medium heat), the flavor of the all spice, cinnamon, garlic, ginger, clove all punched me in the tongue without restraint. The jerk seasoning wasn’t messed with; the flavor was complex yet straightforward.

On top of that, the Pringles had an almost meaty flavor – sort of chicken-y. Like a good jerk chicken, the spice really complemented the meaty savoriness of the chicken, making my mouth water for more of that flavor. They were really really tasty. If you like spice and complex seasoning, you’ll enjoy these Pringles.

ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW? I’ve been waiting for a chip company to utilize this flavor for a long time. WAY TO STEP UP, PRINGLES! You did the flavor proud.

Sincerely,

The JFG

Would you believe that I am 42 and have never owned a cell phone? I will allow you to ponder how this is possible…

I’m living in Jamaica right now. Going to get jerk pork and fried plantains in downtown Kingston tonight. Aw yeah.

  3. Google Photos is your friend. I use it mainly to access my photos between 3 devices (iPhone, Samsung Galaxy Tab, and Microsoft 2 in 1), but its still a good backup.
