Review (x2): Buck Wild Garlic Sea Salt Tortilla Chips, Chipotle Cheddar Tortilla Chips; The Nosh Show Ep. 91: Girl Scout Cookies Are Overrated; Overrated Candy?

JFG Nation, HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Finally it’s here – the candy’s only been out SINCE AUGUST. Tomorrow is my favorite day: 45% off candy day! HURRAY!

As you go trick or treating tonight, or take your kids trick or treating, please be safe out there. People are crazy, yo. I’m not sure if the old tales of sticking razor blades in apples is still a thing, but keep watch over that ish.

TOPIC: Which Halloween candy is waaaaaay overrated? Last week we talked about the worst thing you ever received when trick or treating, but this time I want to know what have you received or do you see in stores that people LOVE giving for Halloween but you think is waaay overrated, don’t like, are actually pissed that you receive.

Me: definitely any Hershey’s bar. Look, I love Hershey’s chocolate. But even if it’s a decent size Hershey’s Cookies n’ Creme, or Special Dark, or whatever – I’m JUST NOT EXCITED. I acknowledge I enjoy the taste, but I just get infinitely more jazzed about Baby Ruth or Snickers than Milk Chocolate with Almonds. Snoozefest.

What about you, JFG Nation? Let me know in the comments below.

Today’s review: Buck Wild Garlic Sea Salt Tortilla Chips, Chipotle Cheddar Tortilla Chips!!

buckwildtortilla-01

Buck Wild Garlic Sea Salt Tortilla Chips and Chipotle Cheddar Tortilla Chips were sent to me by the good peeps at Buck Wild. Spotted always in your local Starbucks, I reviewed a bunch of Buck Wild snacks a while back. Here we go for round 2!

Buck Wild Garlic Sea Salt Tortilla Chips were GREAT. The tortilla chip itself was a little crunchier, flakier than a normal Tostito or Dorito, but the flavor of the chip was surprising. Lightly seasoned, the overall taste was Creamy and savory – this Garlic powder registered more like a Garlicky Cool Ranch than anything else.  I usually hate a heavy hand with garlic because it can go so wrong, but these were garlicky but light. Really really tasty. BUY.

Next: Buck Wild Chipotle Cheddar Tortilla Chips!

I liked these Buck Wild Chipotle Cheddar Tortilla Chips, but not as much as the JFGal. They were definitely BOLD – the sweet chipotle flavor was inconsistent but when it was present, it smacked me in the face. The Cheddar flavor was there but muted – not as cheesy as a Dorito. Still, the sharp tang of cheddar was noticeable. Overall, these tasted a little heavy seasoned, not very balanced to me, but the JFGal liked the heavy powdering. I think you’ll like these, but I preferred the Garlic Sea Salt in terms of overall flavor. This flavor is for people who just want flavor powder all over their tongues.

Have you had these? Let me know in the comments below.

BE SAFE OUT THERE PEOPLE! And again, Happy Halloween!

PURCHASED AT: Sent to me, but can be found in Starbucks for sure

COST: $various

Sincerely,

The JFG

Almond Joy / Mounds. I don’t hate the taste of coconut per se, I think it’s more of a textural thing. Just clogging up precious real estate in my bag that would otherwise be occupied by Reese’s / anything gummy.
