Review: Limited Edition Fruity Crisp Oreo & I Don’t Drink Cereal Milk, Wanna Fight About It?

JFG Nation, today I am reviewing the new Fruity Crisp Oreo, which have exploded on the Internet. And *spoiler alert* they taste just like a Fruity Pebbles cereal. The JFGal went so far as to say they tasted exactly like Fruity Pebbles cereal in milk. Which might explain why, even though the flavor was a spot-on match, I was just “liked” these and didn’t have the oral ecstasy others had. Because I don’t drink cereal milk.

YEAH THAT’S RIGHT. I don’t drink it. Now, I’m not a heathen, so there are of course exceptions. Obviously any chocolate cereal that creates chocolate milk – that’s doable. But the backwash milk from, like, Apple Jacks? I’m not into it.

For me, the flavor isn’t the main problem. Many readers are screaming at their screen yelling “BUT IT’S SUGARY MILK!!!” Yes, correct. I understand the concept. Plus when we have discussed cereal milks on the Nosh Show before, and I haven’t been opposed. For me, the main problem is temperature. I like my milk ice cold, crisp and refreshing. Temperature is important with food/drink to me. I like my steaks with a warm center, I like my sushi with a chill, and I like my eggs hot. Even eat super warm Doritos that have been sitting in the sun during a BBQ? What the eff is THAT. I’ll still eat them but I don’t love it.

So yeah – by the time I get to the bottom of my cereal bowl I have a bowl of lukewarm milk soaked with sugar. If it still cold I think I’d down it with ease. Otherwise it’s like drinking lukewarm beer or soda to me – unappealing.

I don’t waste milk – my go to is usually to either only pour enough milk to basically wet the cereal, or to pour multiple bowls of cereal until the milk has essentially been absorbed into the multiple waves of processed corn until it’s all gone. HEY SOME OF US LIKE FOUR BOWLS OF CEREAL FOR BREAKFAST.

Let me hear it in the comments below, JFG Nation: your stance on cereal milk. GO!

Today’s junk food: Limited Edition Fruity Crisp Oreos!!

Limited Edition Fruity Crisp Oreos: The Money Shot

Limited Edition Fruity Crisp Oreos!! The Internet cannot contain themselves! I’m pretty sure Kim Kardashian has to release another nude selfie, but these Oreos broke significant parts of the Internet. I managed to snag some last Thursday.

We discussed these Limited Edition Fruity Crisp Oreos on the Nosh Show, and most of us were a NOSH. Resembling the Marshmallow Crispy Oreo that we loved, these Golden Oreos appeared to essentially have Fruity Pebbles mixed into the standard Oreo Creme. Note: Fruity Pebbles are not Rice Krispies. Do they make Fruity Pebble Marshmallow Treats? *Googling* Oh Lawd they do.

Limited Edition Fruity Crisp Oreos smelled EXACTLY like Fruity Pebbles upon opening the package. While something like Crunchberries had a tendency to smell more strawberry, Fruity Pebbles have an almost lemon-y citrus aroma that is both appealing and nauseating at the same time.

Limited Edition Fruity Crisp Oreos are exactly as pictures on the package itself – Golden Oreo, White Creme, Bit of Color.

The creme of these Limited Edition Fruity Crisp Oreos was speckled with red, blue, green, and yellow, definitely making these the most fun Oreos to look at in a long time. The creme had amazing texture – the cereal bits were plentiful and gave my tongue lots to work with as I chewed.

The flavor of these Limited Edition Fruity Crisp Oreos? Like I said at the beginning of my post: SPOT ON. It tasted exactly like Fruity Pebbles, and the creme fruitiness wasn’t drowned out by the cookie at all. They were overwhelmingly sweet; the flavor of the Fruity Pebbles just wouldn’t be denied.

The JFGal said these tasted a lot like Fruity Pebbles in milk, which I could see. There’s a restaurant in DC and NYC called Momofuku that does a cereal milk soft serve with cereal sprinkles, and that soft serve actually tastes like MILK (not vanilla or cream). I didn’t get that here – these tasted like Fruity Pebbles in vanilla creme. While I liked these, I still rank the Marshmallow Crispy version better because that creme had some marshmallow flavor. These did not.

I liked these, the JFGal liked these a lot, and the rest of the Internet is still weeping happily. Definitely worth a buy even if they weren’t my favorite Oreo of all time. Now, if they ever have Cocoa Krispies Oreos? Or Cocoa Pebbles Oreos? ALL BETS ARE OFF AND I WILL STAB YOUNIF UOU GET IN MY WAY.

I can’t understand why Nabisco doesn’t sell this in Switzerland. Just like: “Oooh WTF why not Switzerland?!”. So just fuck you Nabisco!!
Everbody knows a Swiss has to buy everything.

  2. Jessica says:

Cereal milk in coffee. Trust me it’s amazeballs. Especially Cocoa Krispies and Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

  3. Alek says:

They need come up with chocolate crisp oreo. Or cinnamon crisp. They can get creative with the crème and add some crunchies. Why not have popping candy in the crème and add some spices. It can be called “fireworks oreos”

  4. MP says:

Warm cereal milk is the worst. I learned in Kindergarten that Cheerios made the worst cereal milk, period. Chocolate and/or peanut butter cereal milk is great. Anything else, no.
Those Oreos look candiassed. Couldn’t people make these by opening Golden Oreo wafers & putting cereal in?

  5. Elisa says:

From the looks of it, this Oreo could pass for the birthday one. Similar bit colors in the creme!

  6. JJ says:

This flavor is actually pretty good and the fruity crisp in the icing make it even more desirable in my opinion. I’ve tried several flavors and this one along with the cookie dough flavor are my favorite. I love fruity pebbles cereal but with Lactose intolerance issues I haven’t been able to eat cereal in years. This cookie brings back memories of my childhood years and eating fruity pebbles on Saturday mornings while watching cartoons. Good Job Nabisco!!!

  7. CJ Cusack says:

Need this one in my life. I already had the blueberry pie.

  8. Ej says:

I have been searching everywhere for these! I swear I’ve gone to every grocery store in Anchorage and they are no where to be found 🙁

  9. Ann says:

Another reason why I never really liked sugary cereals, not even as a kid. I got sick of it real easily (except for Berry Berry Kix which NEEDS TO COME BACK!!!).
But cereal like Corn Chex? Crispix? Cheerios? Rice Crispies? Corn Flakes? Quaker Oatmeal Squares? I could eat bowls and bowls of those and they were perfect with milk and I didn’t mind drinking what was left over.
