Review: New Pepperidge Farm Salted Caramel Cookies, The Nosh Show Ep.56: Blueberry Jam, Quick NBA Finals Prediction, & Previewing This Week

Junk Food Nation, lots to get to, so let’s dive right in:

1) So aside from today’s review, the whole rest of this week will be MINI-REVIEWS. Why? Because I’m headed to Cancun this week, and will be out of this great Junk Food Nation until next week. Of course, you should follow me on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram to see all the goings-on. And hey, if you’ve been to Cancun before and have any recommendations, let me know in the comments below! But yeah – I’m outta here, people. Time to blow this popsicle stand. Even the JFG needs a vacay once in a while.

2) THE NBA FINALS ARE HERE.  Well, they’ll be here in Thursday. And I was right – the Finals did end up being Lebron vs. someone from the West! My prediction as to what will happen? It’s a toughie:

On one hand, Golden State plays super up tempo, and defends using a quasi press most of the time. Kyrie and Lebron have the best ball handling skills, and if Kyrie doesn’t play, I think the GS defense gets the best of Dellavedova. Plus, I trust GS’s long range bombers more than James Jones or JR Smith. I feel like if Cleveland falls behind, they will have a tough time catching up.

On the other hand, Cleveland has SIZE – Mozgov, Thompson, and Lebron are all way bigger than most of GS’s players. If this becomes a game of rebounds, Cleveland will win this matchup. This might force GS to never go inside, and if the shots aren’t falling, Cleveland can muscle their way to a bunch of wins.

Overall? The offensive strength of GS is favored, so I’d lean Warriors in 6 (Both teams split home and away, head into Game 5 in GS tied, GS pulls that one out, and muscles the win in Game 6). The only other possibility I predict would be Cleveland in 7 (If GS falters in Game 6 and fails to close it out, then we’re evenly matched in Game 7, and I dunno – I could see Cleveland carrying the momentum from Game 6 to Game 7.) But all things being equal, even if Kyrie plays, I see WARRIORS in 6. Let me know what YOU think in the comments below.

New Pepperidge Farm Salted Caramel Cookies were found at the same time I picked up the Brown Butter Rum cookies. I LOVED the Brown Butter ones, hopefully these Salted Caramel cookies will match. It’s a wonder to me that these haven’t been made before.

When I opened up this bag of New Pepperidge Farm Salted Caramel Cookies and SMELLED, I could smell an overwhelming aroma of butterscotch. These smelled very sweet. Bordering on cloying, just from the smell itself.

I bit into one of these New Pepperidge Farm Salted Caramel Cookies – and they were really tasty. These are simple cookies, so there wasn’t much to be surprised about. The cookie itself was pretty light and crunchy – like most of Pepperidge Farm’s other cookies. The butter cookie was pretty sweet already, and had a nice buttery flavor.

The chips were the salted caramel part, and they carried decent strong caramel flavor. That distinct caramel flavor was definitely present. The chips were pretty sweet, and mixed with the cookie, these were sweet sweet sweet. As I chewed, my mouth fluctuated between “Oh, these are just buttery sweet” to “Oh, these chips are really caramel-y sweet!” and back and forth and back and forth.

Altogether, these New Pepperidge Farm Salted Caramel Cookies were pretty basic, and pretty good. Nothing too shocking, and honestly nothing mind blowing either. I enjoyed the Brown Butter Rum ones better, to be honest.

My main critique of these was I didn’t really get the SALTED part of the salted caramel flavor. I almost wish this had some salt crystals as part of the topping, to really give me that sweet/salty bite. As they were, these plenty sweet and I didn’t get that counterbalanced flavor. So, if you’re seeking that wonderful salty caramel flavor, I don’t think these achieved that.

But, like I said, I enjoyed these. If you’ve had both these and the Brown Butter Rum ones, let me know which you enjoyed more in the comments below.

    enjoy Cancun!! Go and relax!

  2. Dave says:

Ty not to buy any attraction tickets from any of the vendors inside the hotel, they charge way too much! I was able to find a pretty good price at one of the vendors inside the Flamingo Plaza which is a mall across from the Flamingo Hotel. Make sure to visit the Chichen Itza and pack some swimming trunks for the cenote.

    Cheers!

    Warriors in 5.

  6. Ashley.W says:

Were these salty at all? That’s my problem with mass produced salted caramel products, they are never salty enough! I think their afraid to make the product too salty and people wont like it but salted caramel became mainstream for a reason, people love it!

I was more asking if there was any salt flavor at all period, I understand what he said I was just looking for more details.

  8. Rachel says:

I just tried these today and I actually taste the perfect amount of salty flavor. After 3 cookies, the salty flavor lingers a bit. It balances well with the super sweet caramel, as it should. I would recommend them! Very good! I found it hard to eat just one… 🙂
