Review: Pepperidge Farm Limited Edition Snowball Citrus Cookies & An Airplane Ride To Make You Poo Yourself

Junk Food Nation, Happy Monday!  Daylight Savings time has come and gone, which means that here on the East Coast, the sun sets around lunch time.  FUN. I love leaving work in the PITCH BLACK DARKNESS.

Quick callback: I was one of those people who, on April Fools’ Day, got duped by Virgin Atlantic and their story about having a glass bottomed plane. Thank God it was a joke…my head was spinning trying to imagine the ground falling away beneath me.

But then I read THIS story (which is NOT a prank): a windowless plane that has cameras mounted on the outside so that passengers could have a view of what’s going on OUTSIDE the plane at all times.  WHAT!?  It would look like this:

GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY. Some of you may think this is awesome. I DO NOT. Why the HELL would I want to see myself suspended in air 35,000 feet off the ground?????  I’m like to keep my pants unsoiled, thank you.

In addition: “These futuristic plans would involve screen panels reflecting whatever view of the outside the passenger wanted, changing in accordance with the direction of their eyes.”  See, what if you’re sitting in the middle seat, and you don’t WANT your row to have the “outside view” clicked on, but the guy in the window does?  YOU have to endure vertigo because this wise-ass wants to get his jollies off pretending he’s a bird??  NOPE.

Thankfully, (1) it doesn’t look like the screens will extend to the floor panels and (2) it looks like this project is only in early stages.  Hopefully, by the time the planes actually hit the air, I will have grown a pair.

What do you think, Junk Food Nation? Comment below.

Pepperidge Farm Limited Edition Snowball Citrus Cookies: The Money Shot

Well, it’s the first weekday POST-Halloween, so WHY NOT get right into the holiday goodies???? I’m leading off with these Pepperidge Farm Limited Edition Snowball Citrus Cookies. Are these new? Some modest searching on Google revealed that these were around last year, but I never saw them.  So…new to me!

Pepperidge Farm Limited Edition Snowball Citrus Cookies: SWEET

Snowball cookies are, apparently, a holiday staple that people make themselves each year.  They are basically just butter/sugar/flour cookies, sometimes with nuts added, sometimes with almond extract added, that are doused in powdered sugar. And now, PF has added their own version to the mix with these Pepperidge Farm Limited Edition Snowball Citrus Cookies.

Pepperidge Farm Limited Edition Snowball Citrus Cookies: Contains…coconut?

Pepperidge Farm Limited Edition Snowball Citrus Cookies contain coconut and “natural flavors.” Hmm…I don’t see any nuts or almond extract. Poo….I like that stuff too.

Pepperidge Farm Limited Edition Snowball Citrus Cookies: Sticky with sugar

When I opened and smelled these Pepperidge Farm Limited Edition Snowball Citrus Cookies, there was the definite smell of lemon-y citrus wafting from the bag, as well as a little bit of almond extract smell, I swear.  The cookies themselves were decently sized – about 2 inches across.

Pepperidge Farm Limited Edition Snowball Citrus Cookies: Snowball sugar

Pepperidge Farm Limited Edition Snowball Citrus Cookies were powdered all over with sugar, and a lot of it stuck to my fingers.  The sugar was fine, like a confectioner’s sugar, so while some stuck to my fingers plenty stuck to the cookie too.  There was just sugar everywhere, let’s say that.  Snowball, indeed….

Pepperidge Farm Limited Edition Snowball Citrus Cookies: Airy

I bit into one of these Pepperidge Farm Limited Edition Snowball Citrus Cookies, and these were indeed tasty.  VERY light and crunchy/crispy, the flavor of the cookie did transmit a good citrus flavor.  Not overwhelmingly lemon at all, don’t get it twisted, but just enough lemon zest flavor to know that it was used in the cookie.  The almond extract flavor came out a little bit, just enough to give the cookie some more depth of flavor than just butter/flour/sugar.

The sugar coating was nice and sweet, yes still felt very light – this wasn’t like a frosting on the outside.  Just enough sugar to make each bite lightly sweet.  The butter helped give the cookie lots of wonderful air pockets, ensuring that the texture of the cookie would be light and crunchy.

All in all, the perfect holiday cookie to start the season off with.  Nice work, Pepperidge Farm.  I could eat thirty of these in one sitting.

can you taste coconut at all? i despise coconut, but i love lemon and almond flavor! interested in trying these.

oh, and hell no to that plane. i get motion sickness as it is and that would make it 1000x worse. plus, what is the cost for doing that? i’d think it’d really jack up flight tickets. hopefully it will never come to fruition.

JFG, you will never grow a pair big enough to deal with the insanity of this plane….no one will. I would cry like a baby the whole time.

  3. Jamie says:

that PLANE! ugh. makes me sick just looking at the photo.

For years I wouldn’t go on the disneyland ride that simulates flying (soarin’ over California) … I did do it, and it was fun.. but I would NOT want to be in a real plane like that.

JFG- that glass bottomed plane looks AWESOME. I hadn’t seen that but every time I fly now, I will just wish I had that option.

I am not a fan of PF big cookies and wish they would spend more time on their graham goldfish – they are all addictive and not a bad one out there. A coconut flavor would surely be welcomed.

@MarcP: There’s a bar in Vegas at the Palm called the Ghost Bar, I think. Big party balcony on the top floor, with a glass bottom floor. Yeah…..I’m never going there.

I hate flying period; so not sure if this would make the exp. better or worse; other than a possible upcharge to the tix price.

I am going to add these cookies to my list….hope there is a BOGO at Publix soon and they have this flavor. They sound good
