Review: SAMU Thai Coconut Water (Video) & Where Did You Receive Your USA-POR Gut Punch?

Junk Food Nation, okay, I think I’m semi-recovered from the USA-Portugal game.  But are you? That’s today’s topic…

WHERE DID YOU RECEIVE YOUR USA-POR GUT PUNCH?

Like the USA-Ghana game, I watched the USA-Portugal match at my local sports bar.  Again, the bar was PACKED, although they did a better job of shifting around the tables so there weren’t a bunch of stragglers hanging out in the aisles.  The atmosphere was crackling, and even though the USA went down early 0-1 (I SWEAR GEOFF CAMERON YOUR CLEARING SKILLS ARE TRIFLING) there was still a positive mood, considering.

As the packed joint watched the US assail the Portugal goal, you KNEW the dam had to break at some point.  After Dempsey’s goal put the US up 2-0, people were jumping and hugging and screaming.  It was awesome. Of course, the absolute kick to the nuts came with 3 secs left in the game, and the rest is history.  We all know what happened.

The mood in the bar changed IMMEDIATELY.  There were no cries of anguish, no shouts of disbelief, nothing like that.  The stunner caused the volume in the bar to deflate into almost nothing.  Then there was a slow murmur, and people began shuffling out of the bar.  Heartbreaking. Gutted.  GEOFF CAMERON MARK YOUR MAN DAMNIT.

Anyways, I want to know where YOU watched the game, what the atmosphere was like, what the reax were, etc.  Tell me in the comments below.

Buffalo has been an amazing place to watch the games. Canal side (the new waterfront area) has been hosting the games with giant screens. 5,000 people went to the last game! Thursday there will be all of Buffalo’s food trucks and even more people. They don’t sell alcohol and encourage you to NOT bring it along….but ya know, Buffalonians always drink!

  2. Liz S. says:

The video and written videos are both great!

Never heard of that coconut water brand before. It’s definitely a good base for mixing in smoothies or other drinks.

  3. Matt B says:

The soccer games have been exciting to watch so far this World Cup. It’s amazing how much fan support the U.S. Team has drawn, just wish It could last year-round and not just every 4 years. BTW how much nicer is it watching these soccer games without all those musical instruments being played during the whole match like last World cup??

BTW: I like Turkey Hill Ice Cream.. Pumpkin Pie and Whoopie Pie please..

Ok, I am not trying to be the smart ass ‘Murican here, but what is the draw of watching soccer? I have tried, really, to watch it on television and it does nothing for me. Kick the ball forward, kick it back, kick it sideways and it’s a tie. Woohoo. I just don’t get it. Good on ya if you do like it, though.

  5. Shorneys says:

…so… is that case of coconut water TWO YEARS OLD?!? And yet no preservatives, huh.

  6. Alex says:

I happened to catch the tail end of the game, when they scored at the end I was just kind of speechless in disbelief on my bed. So much disappointment….

  7. Marc P says:

US result: I went up to help tuck in the infant for story time which I did not want to miss and thought it would just be the extra time running out. WRONG.
That was brutal to see, I thought the hollering of the announcers was just for the US victory. WRONG.

  8. Kahnfucius says:

I faceplanted on my couch. What else can you do? Even fake Ronaldo can make a good play. And now there is still the possibility that Ghana will take a spot in the knockout round from us? I think that may just be how the World Cup works.

  9. Brit says:

Ahhh I see why you prefer Samu to other coconut waters. Most are just straight up water from inside a coconut but this one adds a nice bit of sugar. YUM. 🙂

  10. Colby says:

I love coconut anything. Makes me crave Thai food!

  11. Jess says:

Although I’d love to be watching the games at a bar, a toddler and a baby prevent that from happening so I’ve been enjoying the games from my couch. When Portugal put in the tying goal in the 94th minute I yelped and woke my sleeping baby – pretty much ruined everything.

  12. Brent says:

Not that I care, but I did notice that you posted the following line in the wrong place. “You could comment on this contest, comment on the product reviewed below, or comment on any of the topic discussed in today’s post.” Pretty sure today’s product was reviewed above that comment. I only point this out because I needed to post a comment about something.

  13. JoAnn says:

I like Thai food, but not coconut water.

  14. Rikhith L says:

Coconut water is the best thing ever!!!

  15. MP says:

I did not watch the game, but I suddenly noticed a lot of profanity on my Twitter feed!

  16. John Rhem says:

    Turkey, Turkey!

  17. Steve G says:

I was actually watching the game at a church function on my phone, and I let out an audible “ARE YOU SERIOUS?!” when Portugal scored the equalizer. Thankfully, the church service was over and people were just sitting around eating, but still… the whole place just kinda stared me down like I was nuts, but I was so pissed about the game it never really occurred to me that I’d shouted like that until several hours after the fact.

  18. Shelly Buchanan says:

I’ve never tried coconut water, before. Maybe. Depends on cost.

  19. Maria says:

I’ve heard of coconut water before, but have never tried it.. sounds interesting!

  20. Deanna R says:

Unfortunately, I was not able to catch the game. But I did groan vicariously through my sister and aunt who gave me the recap.
