In Stores Now & My Week 4 NFL Picks

Junk Food Nation, today is a busy day. A full slate of NFL Football.  A glorious national game at 1pm between the Patriots and my Bills.  Also, the MLB Wildcard Races are heating up, with my Yanks and my local Nats STILL trying to lock things up and head into the playoffs with momentum.  So let’s just get to it.

Last week in my NFL picks, I was 7-9.  Last week shall also be known as the week EVERYONE lost their Survivor Pools, and the games that led to the end of the Referee Union dispute.  That puts me at 25-23 on the season.  Ugh.

This week, the first week with BYES:

RAVENS over BROWNS: Yeah this game is over already, but who honestly was picking Brandon Weeden to win this game?

FALCONS over PANTHERS: Good teams beat bad teams.  Remember that.

BILLS over PATRIOTS: Never bet against Buffalo (holding my breath now for the next six hours)

LIONS over VIKINGS: The Lions HAVE to get it together sometime…don’t they??

CHIEFS over CHARGERS: Home team gets the nod, even if Bowe is hobbled.

SEAHAWKS over RAMS: The most hated team after that debacle of a Monday night game, the Hawks will look to prove themselves against a divisional opponent.

NINERS over JETS: The Niners are pissed after losing to Minn. The Jets will take the brunt.

TEXANS over TITANS: Always bet against Chris Johnson.  Fall down again after two yards, why dontcha

BENGALS over JAGS: Red Rocket is making sure the Bengals are for real.

CARDINALS over DOLPHINS: The Cards are 3-0? Soon to be 4-0.

BRONCOS over RAIDERS: Yeah, I know the Raiders beat the Steelers.  And the Broncos lost. But they were facing Houston and Peyton will look to rebound at home.

PACKERS over SAINTS: TOUGH matchup.  I say Packers just to give the nod again to the home team.

SKINS over BUCS: I mean, RG3 has to win sometime, right?

GIANTS over EAGLES: At the beginning of the season, I predicted the Eagles would blow.  They haven’t let me down.

BEARS over COWBOYS: I know the Bears are on the road, but I just have a feeling about this game.  (A stupid feeling? Maybe).

So there you go. Happy sports watching today, Nation!  Also, TODAY IS THE LAST DAY to enter to win a package of Limited Edition Candy Corn Oreos, those elusive buggers you’ve been searching for all your life.  Details here on how to enter and win!

Let’s get to some stuff I’ve seen in stores recently:

The ugliest car I’ve ever seen

As my Twitter/Facebook/Instagram followers know, I spotted this car outside Walmart last week.  A Leopard Print Smart Car.  I challenge you to find me an uglier car than this. Email me. I dare you.

THEY’RE BACK!

I reviewed these last year, and liked them a lot.  AND NOW THEY’RE BACK at your local Walmart. Go buy them. Honestly, they are one of the few Pop-Tarts I’ve ever liked.

Spookylicious is not a flavor

These are just frosted chocolate fudge Pop-Tarts – if you’re going to make up a name, make it closer to the flavor of the snack.  Chocospooky? Fear Fudge? Look, I’m not in marketing.  BUT YOU HAVE PEOPLE WHO DO THIS.  Step up your game, Pop-Tarts.  Spookylicious means nothing to me.

Old classic in new snacks?

Saw these at the Dollar Tree, and I didn’t realize that old 1960’s classic were great marketing vehicles.  Do kids these days even know the old stop-motion claymation classic?  I mean, the 1960’s were FIFT YEARS AGO.  Good lord.

Also, are we eating Rudolph’s nose here?  Gross.

Someone call the USPTO

Ok, how many ways does this knock off Honey Nut Cheerios?  I mean, really, Golden Foods?  You even have a damn cartoon bee on here!

BTW, ever notice how most generic grocery store Cheerios have some weird name like, SAFEWAY O’s, or GIANT O’s, or FOODLION-O’s.  Real creative, guys.

They really do think we’re that stupid.

These are literally just smaller Rice Krispies Treats that are individually wrapped in order to give them out at Halloween.  Just in case you felt too cheap to give out normal size Rice Krispies Treats at Halloween.  These are the equivalent of bite-size candy – don’t insult the kids, ok?

Aioli or junk food?

Flavored mayo…good idea or no?  I say….yeeeeeeg *shudder*

GIT ER DONE IN FIFTEEN MINUTES!

Wait, this is real? I can understand food products being endorsed by chefs, but now comedians??? What’s next, Seinfeld Cereal? Chris Rock Rocky Road ice cream?  C’mon now…

Thoughts? Please comment below (I always reply) or hit me up on Twitter @junkfoodguy or LIKE my Facebook Page and message me there. Also, you can always email me at junkfoodguy@junkfoodguy.com. Let’s hang out.

Sincerely,

Do you eat aioli? That’s basically flavored mayo. Flavoring mayo is the only way I enjoy it at all – otherwise it’s just fatty goop sucking the flavor from everything around it. I endorse and promote flavoring mayo for the good of American taste buds.

You mention the Pumpkin Pie Pop-Tarts being one of the few Pop-Tarts you’ve liked, curious what are your top 3 flavors of Pop-Tarts?

  5. I’ve seen all the Larry the Cable Guy food at the 99 Cent Only store – he also has beer batter mix for fish & chips – didn’t even want to try it for 99 cents…
