Terra Sweet Onion Exotic Harvest Chips & A Brilliant Sexting Suggestion

Junk Food Nation, we’ve all sexted, right? You know, sent scandalous to explicit photos to a loved one via text? We’ve all done that, no? HA GOTCHA! You perverts.  I’d never be party to anything like that! <shifty eyes> Wait, what? Where am I?

Putting aside whether you’ve actually sent or received sexts, I was discussing this topic with a female friend of mine. And this particular female told me that she sexts her boyfriend all the time. First, why tell me that?  Seriously, why? She’s a fairly attractive woman, so immediately my thoughts are in the gutter.  What’s to be gained here?

Of course, because I’m a completely juvenile male, I passed on this conversation to a co-worker of mine, and we had fun wisecracking about it.  Then he mentioned off-handedly, “Dude, you should steal her cellphone and replace her boyfriend’s number with your number. Then you’d get all of her naked pics. That’d be AWESOME.” I laughed for a second, and then stopped.  Why had no one thought of this before?!

Now I’d never do that because I’m not THAT morally bankrupt, nor would I ever suggest anyone else do it, because (1) it’s invasion of privacy and (2) DUH YOU CREEP, but why hasn’t one of those nudity filled teen movies used this concept before? Doesn’t it seem like the perfect plot twist to Superbad 2? Michael Cera stealing a college roommate’s phone at Jonah Hill’s urging, and the wackiness ensues?  Someone get Sony Pictures on the line.

Of course, this whole topic (and me even discussing this topic) feels like the beginning of a lawsuit.  Blech, let’s move on.  Today’s junk food: Terra Sweet Onion Exotic Harvest Chips!

The Money Shot

I have to admit, when I first saw these, my only thought was “RAINBOW CHIPS!!!!” I mean, flavors, yes, healthy (ish), yes, Terra, yes – but this time down the snack aisle, I was swayed purely by aesthetic.

What's the OLD Exotic Blend?

Terra Exotic Harvest Chips combine blue potato, carrot chips, and *drumroll* kabocha squash.  Kabocha squash!? Wiki says its better known as winter squash, which, indeed, it IS better known as.  Add all those veggies together and season it with sweet onion?  This is better than eating a salad!

Colorful

I mean, just look at these Terra Sweet Onion Exotic Harvest Chips. It’s like a salad in chip form in a shiny bag for you to munch on.

So wordy, Terra

I like how Terra discusses the use of expeller pressed oil like I know what that is. Well, for you food geeks, here’s what it means.  “An expeller is a big screw that is tightened until it crushes the nut/seed and causes the oil to run.” Basically, no chemical poisons are used to get this oil out. Therefore, the oil Terra uses has no hints of poison in it…so…. thanks for that.

Also known as Japanese pumpkin?

Blue potato, also known as Bleu Potato, and Carrot, also known as orange crunchsticks…. sorry, I was just being silly there for an unfunny moment.

It's a rainbow! If a rainbow was only two or three colors

I have to admit, these Terra Sweet Onion Exotic Harvest Chips look as advertised. Bright and colorful, speckled with onion flakes, these are intriguing.

Beautiful cuts

Time to taste these Terra Sweet Onion Exotic Harvest Chips. The blue potato chip was crunchy, ripple cut, and bursting with potatoey flavor.  The sweet onion taste emerged immediately on the backdrop of the potato chip.  The carrot chips were slightly softer, and sweeter. Unsurprisingly, they tasted like sweet potato chips, and were more “crispy” than crunchy.  On this already sweet background, the sweet onion was more a savory addition to the already interesting taste of the carrot chip.

Like chips out of Willy Wonka's

The kabocha was VERY light, also ripple cut, and had that squashy sweetness we’re all familiar with (think butternut squash).  There weren’t a lot of these in the bag, but the ones I did taste were sweet and savory at the same time.  The sweet onion served to enhance the sweetness.

Overall the chips weren’t overly salty and the fresh sweet onion flavor was very satisfying.  Another successful “healthy snack,” Terra.  Nothing overwhelmingly amazing to me, just a predictable, tasty chip. Can’t ask for any more than that.
