Today’s junk food: Kettle Brand Korean Barbeque Potato Chips!!

When I opened this bag of Kettle Brand Korean Barbeque Potato Chips, I sniffed… no soy. No real meaty aroma. Was I missing something here? When this bag says Korean BBQ, I think Korean beef like bulgogi or maybe pork… but I don’t get any of those smells here. I don’t even smell bibimbap sauce. Hm.

I popped some chips in my mouth, and they are delicious. Good kettle chip texture and a nice savory barbecue flavor. Do these taste like Korean BBQ though? As I smack my lips, I do get a slight taste of maybe a hoisin or a bibimbap taste, but it’s still mainly a barbecue flavor with heavier notes of sweet onion and garlic. Not quite the Korean BBQ flavor I was expecting – at the very least I thought there’d be more soy in the flavor.

BUT these tasted really really good. If you buy these looking for a tasty chip, you’ll enjoy these a lot. If you’re looking for a specific Korean BBQ taste, you’re better off elsewhere.

PURCHASED AT: Harris Teeter, Bethesda, MD.

FOUND AT: Chip aisle

COST: $3.00

Sincerely,

The JFG
